Gloucestershire’s newly established Primary Humanities Subject Leaders’ Network
‘Inspiring; informative; engaging; different; fun.’
(One participant’s ‘concluding comment’ at our previous workshop)
Following interest and demand from several schools/individuals, I have recently established a Primary Humanities Subject Leaders’ Network for local teaching professionals. It is intended to meet each term, on either a Monday or Tuesday afternoon (please feel free to bring your lunch with you if necessary). Each session will aim to focus on a particular aspect of history or geography, determined very much by the needs/desires of the group.
Our second session of this academic year will take the theme of ‘Maps, maps and more maps!’. We will look at how maps can be used, both inside and outside the classroom, in the teaching and learning of history and geography from EYFS to Year 6. Suggestions for local fieldwork and visits will be given, as well as pointers for filing a Frederick Soddy Trust Award application. The aim is to meet from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm on Tuesday 13th November 2018 at The Pavilion, Sir Thomas Rich’s School (STRS), Oakleaze, Gloucester, GL2 0LF. The cost per head is £35.00, with refreshments provided upon arrival and throughout the afternoon.
Please bring a Wi-Fi enabled laptop/tablet and USB stick with you, along with a copy of your annual whole school curriculum plan and current scheme of work/topic map. Be prepared to get stuck in too!
To reserve a place, please contact Emma Espley by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org). Please apply no later than Tuesday 6th November 2018.
I look forward to seeing some familiar faces, as well as a few new ones too.
